# About Ben

I am a computer scientist interested in machine learning and artificial intelligence. I'm currently building an AI startup in San Francisco.

Before that, I was a research fellow at Stanford's [Regulation, Evaluation, and Governance Lab](https://reglab.stanford.edu/about/), where I focused on data-driven policy interventions in partnership with government agencies. I worked with the Internal Revenue Service to explore the benefits of using self-supervised tabular pretraining for audit selection; and with Santa Clara County to evaluate the COVID-19 disease surveillance program using molecular phylogenomics.
